ONE OF OUR BESTSELLERS
According to the 1976 COPYRIGHT ACT (Circular 9, “Work-Made-For-Hire”): “If a work is made for hire, an employer is considered the author even if an employee actually created the work. The employer can be a firm, an organization, or an individual.”
As a self-publisher I have been there and done that. I have seen many writers get into a fix with their illustrators once the writer’s work is published and they start generating income from their work. Mirwag Inc. can come up with an ironclad contract between you and the illustrator so that you own the illustrations and have copyright to them, and not have any “SURPRISES” in the future from the illustrator. There is no such thing as both the illustrator and the author owning the rights to a piece of work unless it is definitely agreed upon.
